IT360 menjawab kebutuhan integrated monitoring

With more than 100 years of tradition behind it, DORMA, a family-owned company has developed into the trusted global partner for premium access solutions and services enabling better buildings. DORMA is the leader in door controls, movable walls, glass fittings and accessories, and number two in automatic doors. The company is a member of the world elite. It is also a successful player in the security, time-management, access-control systems and is number one in Germany for emergency-exit control and escape-route security systems.
IT plays an important role in managing DORMA’s day-to-day business activities that are spread across the globe. UK acts as the central hub for managing DORMA’s entire IT infrastructure. Virtualization was introduced to DORMA as part of restructuring its IT infrastructure to bring in efficiency when a need for a systems-management tool started to worry Mr. Geoff Stone, currently heading IT infrastructure division.

Operational Challenge

“We used to control things locally some time ago and were hardly using any of those huge servers and other complex IT infrastructure that we have today. It used to be simple” recalls Geoff . IT has changed its course very drastically; the change is dynamic and fast. Managing this change has become even more difficult.
DORMA was using a local vendor for their service-management needs “We were using ICCM earlier to address our service-management requirements. However, as we included more IT infrastructure and expanded our base we needed a solution which could do both systems and service-management using an architecture to support our global expansion.”

The ManageEngine Solution

As the demand was to have a solution which does both systems and service-management, ManageEngine IT360 was proposed to DORMA. “Today we are using IT360 in more than 13 countries across Europe, with systems monitoring more confined to the UK and service-management component spread across”
Around 17 technicians in different countries use the service-management module of IT360 to manage tickets and different service requests. DORMA has been practicing ITIL since the time they were using the previous tool. With IT360’s integrated ITIL-ready module they could continue to follow the best practices.
DORMA uses VMware infrastructure in their NOC. “We have added virtual infrastructure very recently and IT360 allows us to monitor all our IT infrastructure including the virtual servers from a centralized console. Another advantage that we get by using IT360 is the service-management status report which I can see right on the unified dashboard with other IT infrastructure.”

The ManageEngine Advantage

DORMA has been actively using most of the features of IT360. Geoff and his team have been able to reap following benefits:
  • Centralized alarm console which allows them to be pro-active
  • Business-service dashboards which allow the team to view the real-time status of infrastructure and tickets form a central console
  • Distributed architecture of the product that allows them to scale the operation as per business requirements
  • Ease of use, no need of professional services for deployment and training
  • Lower operational and maintenance cost
