Kaspersky Internet Security achieves highest possible score in independent testing by AV-TEST

Kaspersky Lab announces that its flagship security solution for home users, Kaspersky Internet Security 2014, scored the highest possible points in Bi-Monthly Certification November-December 2013 – a testing program run by independent research laboratory AV-TEST. The Kaspersky Lab product shared its top result with one other solution, outperforming 23 competitor products that were also tested.
The testing methodology implemented by AV-TEST imitated the use of a security solution on a home computer. The products being tested could employ any anti-malware technologies, including the ability to query cloud services if this capability was provided by the vendor. The threat collection used in the test included over 19,000 samples. Of these, 110 were samples that had not as yet become widespread at the time of testing and could therefore be used to determine how effectively security products protect against the very latest cyberthreats.
Kaspersky Internet Security achieved an overall test score of 18 points out of 18. The Kaspersky Lab solution neutralized all the malicious samples prepared by the testers without significantly affecting computer performance.
Security solutions were tested on a 64-bit version of Windows 8.1 – the latest version of the operating system, which was released by Microsoft in October 2013.
Additionally, during November and December AV-TEST evaluated security products for corporate users of Windows 8. Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business scored 17 points out of 18, successfully blocking 100% of malicious samples in the test collection.
"In most cases, the capabilities built into the operating system are not sufficient to safeguard users from cyberthreats, which are growing in number every day. Any new platform quickly becomes targeted by cybercriminals. This is why dedicated solutions developed by experienced vendors, such as Kaspersky Internet Security or Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business, are needed to provide reliable protection,” commented Nikita Shvetsov, Deputy CTO (Research) at Kaspersky Lab.
Independent research organizations often commend Kaspersky Lab products for the high level of protection they provide. A recent example is the Product of the Year status awarded to Kaspersky Internet Security by AV-Comparatives for excellent testing results throughout the year 2013.
