SMART CITY in a box

Memasang Colasoft Capsa untuk monitoring jaringan Anda

Shared network and switched network are two common network environments today, before install Colasoft Capsa, you should first know about the topology of your network.
  • Shared network

A shared network is also known as hubbed network which is connected with a hub.

Hubs are commonly used to connect segments of a LAN. When a packet arrives at one port, it is copied to the other ports so that all segments of the LAN can see all packets. A passive hub serves simply as a conduit for the data, enabling it to go from one device (or segment) to another. So-called intelligent hubs include additional features that enable an administrator to monitor the traffic passing through the hub and to configure each port in the hub. Intelligent hubs are also called manageable hubs. A third type of hub, called a switching hub, actually reads the destination address of each packet and then forwards the packet to the correct port.

With a shared environment, Colasoft Capsa can be installed on any host in LAN. The entire network data transmitted through the Hub will be captured, including the communication between any two hosts in LAN.
  • Topology illustration 1:

  • Switched network

Switch is a network device working on the Data Link Layer of OSI. Switch can learn the physical addresses and save these addresses in its ARP table. When a packet is sent to switch, switch will check the packet’s destination address from its ARP table and then send the packet to the corresponding port.
    • Network with managed switchesGenerally all three-layer switches and partial two-layer switches have the ability of network management; the traffic going through other ports of the switch can be captured from the debugging port (mirror port/span port) on the core chip. To analyze the traffic going through all ports, Colasoft Capsa should be installed on this debugging port (mirror port/span port).
The following table presents the advantages and disadvantages of using a switch with mirror port.
      Advantage       Disadvantage
    • No additional facility required
    • No need to change network topology
    •
    • Occupies a switch port
    • Possible influence to network transmission performance when meeting huge traffic

    Topology illustration 2:

  • Network with unmanaged switches

If your switch has no management function, you can:

    • Connect a tap with the line to be monitoredTaps can be flexibly placed on any line in network. When the requirement for network performance is very high, you can add a tap to connect your network. The following table presents the advantages and disadvantages of using a tap.

      Advantage       Disadvantage
    • No influence to network transmission performance
    • No interference with data stream and raw data
    • Does not occupy IP address, free from network attacks
    • No need to change network topology
    •
    • High cost
    • Additional facility (tap) required
    • Requires dual adapters
    • Can not connect Internet
  • Topology illustration 3:

  • Connect a hub with the line to be monitored

Working on share mode, hubs are applicable for small networks.

      Advantage       Disadvantage
    • Low cost
    • No need to be configured
    • No need to change network topology
    •
    • Additional facility (hub) required
    • Interference to network transmission performance when meeting huge traffic
    • Not applicable for big networks

    Topology illustration 4:

  • Monitoring a network segment

In the case when you only need to monitor the traffic in a network segment (e.g. Finance department, Sales department, etc.), you can connect the server on which Colasoft Capsa is installed and the network segment with a exchange facility. The exchange facility can be hub, switch or proxy server.
  • Topology illustration 5:

Note: Commonly management switches have the function of port mirroring (spanning); however, the port mirroring configuration of one brand’s switch may differ from others, please refer to the documentation that comes with your switch for information on the availability of this feature and the configuration instructions. For the information about management switches, please visit the "Switch Management" page.

Introducing Zoho Social for Digital Agencies

Introducing Zoho Social for Digital Agencies

Zoho Social | November 14, 2017 |2 min read
Zoho Social for Agencies
Two years ago, we launched Zoho Social to help individual businesses grow and manage their presence across popular social media networks.
Last year, we built an integration that made Zoho Social the first tool to generate new leads and track revenue from social media marketing efforts.
Today, with lots of feedback and ideas from our agency customers, we’re thrilled to introduce—Zoho Social for Agencies—a special edition of Zoho Social that caters to the needs of digital agencies managing social media for multiple brands. This edition enables agency members to work together as a team, while keeping their clients in the loop whenever they need to.
If you’re an agency, here’s what makes Zoho Social a great fit for you:
One platform to manage all your clients.
Bring all your clients together with a single tool. As an admin, you can specify roles for various team members and assign them to different brands, making it easy to handle multiple clients as your agency grows.
A social media tool with your name on it.
Make Zoho Social your own by branding the interface with your agency’s domain name, logo, and favicon. With this custom-labeling, your logo will also appear on reports and custom invite emails sent to your clients, helping you reinforce your agency brand.
Agency Branding
Bring your clients into the conversation.
Good client management requires clear communication between you and the brands you work with. Rather than chasing down important stakeholders and struggling to keep track of client emails, bring those conversations into Zoho Social, so everyone stays on the same page. Save time and energy by embracing a more collaborative social media management process.
Collaboration
Track your Facebook lead ad campaigns and generate new business opportunities.
Monitor your clients’ Facebook lead ad campaigns in real time within Zoho Social. Push the leads you’ve gained to Zoho CRM, retaining the attribution to the social network, and without downloading any files.
Not just that, Zoho Social helps you manage all aspects of your clients’ social media presence:
  • Manage the content pipeline for each of your clients individually with Zoho Social’s intuitive publishing calendar. If you need to make changes to the schedule later, simply drag and drop a post to a different date.
  • Use SmartQ to automatically schedule posts for times when your followers are most likely to engage. SmartQ suggests when you should publish a post by analyzing past engagement patterns from each social network.
  • Monitor social media activities such as hashtags, likes, and mentions for each of your clients, in a multi-column layout that’s customizable to your needs.
  • Create and share unlimited reports with your clients, with pre-built statistics that can aggregate and compare outcomes across multiple social networks.
Zoho Social for Agencies is available in two plans—Agency and Agency Plus. Check out the agency edition and sign up for a 15-day free trial, today.
Go ahead, give it a spin and share your feedback with us. We’re very excited about this new edition and we can’t wait to hear what you think of it.

Better audio conferencing in Zoho Meeting

After moving to WebRTC technology, we have continually made improvements in Zoho Meeting. Recently we have made a major change in our communication protocols to reduce bandwidth usage. Now, you will experience faster connection speed and better stability in your meetings.
With Zoho Meeting, we make audio simple and easy with built-in conference service. You can either join the conference directly from your computer using VoIP or from your phone using the international dial-in numbers.
Talk directly from your computer
Early this year, we re-introduced VoIP or internet calling in Zoho Meeting to join the conference from your browser. Once you join the meeting you will be prompted to allow access to your microphone and webcam to join the conference from your computer.
Call using phone
We have now increased the toll-based international dial-in numbers and provide numbers for up to 40 countries. The presenter and participants can choose their country from the toolbar to get the respective dial-in number and the conference details to join the audio conference.
Toll-free addon
We have also added toll-free numbers for 25 countries. You can get the toll-free add-on so that your participants join the conference without spending a penny for the call.
Record your conference call
You and your participant may choose any of the built-in audio options to join the conference during the meeting.  When you record your meeting, the discussions over the conference will be recorded automatically.
Use your own conference service
If you would like to use your own conferencing service, you can provide the conference details while scheduling the meeting. The presenter and the participants will be joining the conference using those conference details from the meeting toolbar.
We are continuously enhancing the conferencing service and adding the usabilities for this feature. Stay tuned to us.
