Memilih software atau tools untuk implementasi ITIL

ITIL 2011 Processes
Proses dan fungsi dalam ITIL merupakan sebuah panduan Best Practice dalam pengelolaan layanan IT. Secara keseluruhan terdapat 26 proses dan 4 fungsi dalam ITIL yang saling berhubungan satu dengan yang lain membentuk sebuah lifecycle.
Setiap proses dan fungsi dalam lifecycle layanan apabila diimplementasikan secara keseluruhan serta dijalankan secara konsisten akan memberikan manfaat yang signifikan terhadap bisnis, bukan saja membantu meningkatkan efisiensi dan efektifitas layanan IT, tetapi juga dapat memberikan nilai tambah bagi organisasi.
Pertanyaan berikutnya adalah “Apakah ITIL bisa dijalankan tanpa menggunakan Toolsatau harus menggunakan Tools?” jawabannya adalah “Tidak harus”, karena bisa saja proses dan fungsi ITIL dijalankan manual. Namun tentunya apabila seluruh proses dan fungsi tersebut dijalankan manual akan mengurangi efektifitas dan efisiensi proses itu sendiri, bahkan justru akan mengurangi esensi dari penerapan ITIL tersebut yaitu meningkatkan efektifitas dan efisiensi layanan.
